New Research on Renewable Energy

Ground-breaking research from our friends at the UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training in Environmental Intelligence at the University of Exeter, in collaboration with Friends of the Earth, reveals that by utilising under 3% of England’s land for onshore wind and solar farms, we could increase our clean energy output by 13 times.

This study not only identifies specific areas like North Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, and East Riding of Yorkshire as prime locations for renewable projects but also emphasises the impact of lifting barriers to onshore wind and solar power. With an approach that safeguards nature and landscapes, the findings suggest a path to significantly exceed current electricity generation from these sources, supporting a sustainable future.

A must-read for those interested in the future of sustainable energy, this research underlines the vital role of renewable resources in achieving the UK’s climate goals. Read more here
