The Joint Centre for Excellence in Environmental Intelligence (JCEEI) is working with Microsoft to develop the initial components of a prototype digital representation of the South West environment and the complex interactions with its population, infrastructure and economy.
This initiative has been enabled through the Met Office’s new HPC Collaboration, and is being led by the JCEEI. It is part of a planned development of a Digital Twin for the South West that brings together multiple sources of environmental and sociological information to inform decision-makers, provide the information required for policy development and to empower members of the public. The translation of Environmental information into decision-support through the use of Artificial Intelligence lies at the heart of the JCEEI which brings together world-leading researchers to pioneer research in environmental intelligence and to deliver innovative, interdisciplinary education and training.
